Maintaining a work-life balance is so important to stay happy and motivated at work! Teammates don't mean to disrupt your work-life balance but it can be hard to keep track of everyone’s needs and preferences so everyone is likely to make a mistake. Clockwise makes it easier than ever to set and stick to healthier boundaries, and you can get started by following these simple steps:
- Set your meeting preferences
- Protect time for lunch
- Connect your personal calendar to communicate availability
- Automatically communicate status with the Slack sync
Set your meeting preferences
Nothing is worse than having a meeting be set too early or too late in your day. This only gets more complicated when your teammates are spread out across multiple time zones. Be sure to set your meeting preferences in your settings to make sure Clockwise knows the ideal times you’d prefer to meet.
- While you’re here, be sure to set the correct time zone so Clockwise works as expected.

Make time for lunch
It’s too easy to get caught up with work and completely forget to eat lunch. Save time for lunch every day by letting Clockwise automatically sync a lunch hold to your calendar. Bonus points: It will update dynamically as your calendar evolves with meeting moves and conflicts.
When you enable your Lunch events from your Settings>Smart Holds: Focus Time, Lunch, Travel Time, and Personal Calendar, Clockwise will automatically create a calendar event that corresponds to your lunch preferences. These dynamic calendar events are updated in real-time as your calendar changes, so you can always have an up-to-date view of the time you have available for lunch.

Sync your personal calendar
As work increasingly happens outside the 9-5 workday with hybrid work and more flexible schedules, it’s more important than ever to stay organized by keeping your various calendars in sync. Clockwise will sync events from your personal calendar and present them in your calendar as private “Busy” blocks to preserve your privacy.
From Settings go to Smart Holds: Focus Time, Lunch, Travel Time, and Personal Calendar. Scroll down to personal calendar sync and click on "Connect New Calendar" to add your personal calendar. You can add multiple calendars if needed.

Slack sync
As remote and hybrid work becomes more of the norm, it’s hard to understand when your teammates are available and how to respect their boundaries. Using the Slack sync, you’re able to effortlessly set expectations about your availability with automatic status syncing. This will tell your team when you’re outside of your working hours, in a meeting, or in Focus Time.
Sync to Slack from your Settings>Integrations. Click "Add to Slack" and choose which features of the Slack integration you’d like to use.
