Divisions are a paid group that sits in between a team and an organization in terms of size. It can accommodate more users than a Team paid plan (teams have a 50-user maximum) without requiring every domain email that signs up for Clockwise to contribute to the paid organization. New users who sign up for Clockwise will be added to the free plan; if a license needs to be allocated to the user, it can be requested and approved by an admin.
Divisions are best for an organization that has a large demand for Clockwise, but wants to control growth for budget predictability, or else an IT team who wants to understand the demand for Clockwise and thus requires approval for all licenses requested by end users.
Note: Divisions are not often not suited for smaller IT teams as they require overhead of approving licenses regularly.

The Division admin role
Clockwise admins within Division plans are able to:
- Approve licenses being added to their subscription
- Remove other users from their subscription
- Enable the setting to require admin approval for new users to be added to a subscription
Setting Admins for a Division
Note: The first admin will need to be set up by Clockwise support. Once an admin has been set up, the first admin can upgrade any other Clockwise user to also be an admin.
- Navigate to your Clockwise user list.
- Click on the role of the person who should be upgraded.
Choose Admin to upgrade the user.
Configuring request-based access to paid plans
Clockwise admins will have to decide whether they want anyone to be able to add users to the division to use a seat, or if they want to require admin approval when adding new users. To update this setting, navigate to Clockwise Plans & billing, and toggle the option that fits your preference.
Once this setting is disabled by a Clockwise admin, the users within the plan will not see the Add users to your plan button as an option when they view the Plans & billing page.
When the Clockwise subscription is set up as admin approval only, Clockwise users will not be able to invite users directly to the paid subscription. A request will be sent to the admin to approve the new teammate that was added to the paid subscription.
Adding users to a Division
- Navigate to your Clockwise Users list.
Click the Invite button at the top right of the screen.
Type in the email address of the teammate you'd like to invite, and choose which subscription they should be added to.
- Click Invite.
Approving paid seat requests
All Clockwise admins will receive the following email when a Clockwise user requests a paid seat.
The admin can approve directly from the email via the Approve now button.
Removing users from a Division
- Navigate to your Clockwise Users list.
- Search for the user you want to remove.
- Click the three dots to the right of the user’s name.
Choose Remove user... This removes the user from the paid subscription.
Note: Only admins can remove users from subscriptions, the three dots will not be clickable to non-admins in the subscription.
This will only affect the paid seat of the specific Division. The user's other team memberships will not be affected. If this is the only paid team for your account, the user will become a free plan Clockwise user, which will limit their capabilities, as defined in our plan offerings found here.
